“Restlesslegs” is an exploration of this painful, electrical, creeping, itching, crawling, or numb sensation that ultimately stops you from finding rest. The primary inspiration for the project were Sophie’s restless legs, not just metaphorically but as an actual medical condition. It transformed into a production where artists are communicating a parallel between the internal and external struggle of restlessness. It exists both in our bodies and in our societies as conditions we are mostly helpless to change. Yet we are confronted with them regularly and we continuously struggle to cope.

Moreover, the condition of restless legs describes the situation of artists in Hungary very well: They have a strong urge to create, to participate. They have a role to play, but their hands are tied and resources are limited. They constantly feel that there is no way out, no real way in, stuck in a state of constant struggle. Yet when it comes down to it they still move, themselves and each other. Every step counts, is valuable, and matters. Even if it is not forward, yet.

One Two Many was formed in 2022 as a collaboration between Sophie Zoletnik, Marton Czuzi and Lennart Paar after having worked on several projects together over the previous years. The vision of the young collective is to bring together the many different talents of the performers as well as connect the still mostly separate performance and movement disciplines in Hungary.

The production was supported by: Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, National Cultural Fund, Inspiral Circus Center, Firebirds. The performance in Split is realized with the financial support of the Kultura nova Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Split.
