Runa

FNO23-4
acrobatics, object manipulation
Split Predgrađe train station (Kopilica)
Amer Cabanni / CIA°104 (Catalonia)

On the base of the techniques of the circus and the methodology of autofiction, Amer Kabbani explores the contradictions of Europe’s welfare bubble. As a European racialized, he is part of this world, but as a Syrian, he also belongs to this other part of the world that is constantly at war, even when most of the cases this is caused and imposed externally. Thus, “Runa” allows us to rethink ourselves as human beings and it makes us begin the process of personal and collective reconstruction, a process absolutely necessary to live in a world less cruel and unjust for everyone.

The company 104º is the circus company of Amer Kabbani, a Catalan-Syrian artist who believes in the performing arts and live artistic practices as tools for the discovery and construction of both, the collective identity and one’s own place. For Kabbani, getting in front of an audience allows us to search, rethink, remake and investigate what goes beyond appearances and problematize what we see for the first time, guiding both the artist and the public with the power of discovery and joint and communal experiences. With his former show “ENVÀ”, jointly created with Àfrica Llorens within the company Amer i Àfrica Circ, he has toured all over Europe.

The performance of “Runa” in Split is co-organized with Association Kopilica Split and with the financial support of the Kultura nova Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and the media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Split.
