The ecology of practices, as Isabelle Stengers calls it, speaks of the ecology of trial and error, means and ends, tools and situations to which we respond to secure a somewhat peaceful, creative, and self-sufficient life in the context of tectonic changes around us and among us.
This roundtable will initiate a conversation about how we find coordinates and foundations for the ways we create, how we work, and how and with whom we live in a society that does not know how to care for itself or its only home.
Somewhere at the intersection of science and art, sociability and autonomy, knowledge and intuition, creation and production, lies the vacuum of our fear of collective action regarding a pessimistic future. In this vacuum, some of us have found a space of self-sufficiency—practices that, in their intent, are neither outside nor inside the box of conventional artistic or professional practices but rather rethink the box itself.
What is the purpose of art and craftsmanship in the reproduction of life, and what can House of Klajn, Škograd, the Autonomous University, and ROOM 100 tell us about it…?
The conversation is part of the “Hand to Hand” project, the language is English.
